Bichon Frise, with their fluffy white coats, are a sight to behold. But maintaining that adorable, cloud-like appearance requires regular grooming. Here's how to go about it.

Gather Your Tools

Before you dive into the grooming process, make sure you have all the necessary tools at hand. You'll need a slicker brush, a comb, a pair of grooming scissors, a clipper, and a shampoo specifically designed for dogs.

Brushing

Start by brushing your Bichon Frise's coat. This should be done daily to prevent matting and to remove any loose hair. Use a slicker brush to gently work through the fur, starting from the head and moving down to the tail. Be sure to brush in the direction of hair growth.

Bathing

Bathing your Bichon Frise is another crucial step in maintaining their coat. Do this every four to six weeks, or as needed. Use a dog-specific shampoo and make sure to wet your dog's coat thoroughly before applying the shampoo. Work the shampoo into a lather and massage it gently into the fur. Avoid getting shampoo in your dog's eyes, ears, or mouth. Rinse thoroughly to remove all the shampoo.
