There is a vast array of probiotics available, including yeast probiotics and lactic acid bacteria probiotics, among others. The applications of probiotics are increasingly widespread, benefiting various systems such as the digestive, respiratory, skin, and renal systems. These beneficial microorganisms can help reduce allergic reactions and modulate the development of intestinal mucosal lymphoid tissues, thereby decreasing the incidence of allergic diseases.

Prebiotics are substrates selectively utilized by the host's microbiota, potentially conferring health benefits. They are primarily composed of indigestible, fermentable, or nonfermentable fibers of plant origin, such as inulin, nonstarch polysaccharides, disaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides.

Colonic microbiota ferment prebiotics into metabolic products, such as shortchain fatty acids, which maintain health through various mechanisms, including antiinflammatory effects and lowering the intestinal pH to prevent the growth of pathogenic microorganisms.

Probiotics can suppress harmful bacteria. Supplementing with probiotics aids in balancing the gut microbiome and restoring normal intestinal pH levels, alleviating symptoms of diarrhea, and simultaneously inhibiting the growth and reproduction of harmful bacteria, reducing toxins, and promoting a healthy digestive system.

Probiotics can boost the immune system. By stimulating the immune function within the intestines, probiotics can regulate immune activity that is either too low or too high, contributing to a balanced intestinal immune system. They also help nutrients to be absorbed more effectively, as they provide an ideal growth environment for beneficial gut bacteria, fostering a healthy gut environment.
