What is revenge, you might ask? Revenge is an act driven by malice, where one plans to take action against someone with the intention of making them feel guilt, pressure, or sorrow for their past actions.

Understanding the concept of revenge and being capable of executing it throughout the process requires a high level of cognitive ability in animals.

Let's consider this from a human perspective. Imagine you're a dog. You would need to predict the behaviors that your owner finds most offensive. Why not destroy your owner's favorite model, or smash all the highend cosmetics? Just peeing on the bed seems like a poor choice for a truly vengeful animal. If it were truly seeking revenge through such behavior, it would also need to understand the owner's frustration with cleaning the sheets, the annoyance at seeing feces and urine on the bed, and the helplessness in dealing with the mess.

Take a look at the silly dog by your side. Do you really think it comprehends what revenge is?

From a dog's perspective, there's no issue with urinating indoors.

It might be because the dog feels uncomfortable, or perhaps it simply enjoys the sensation of peeing on the bed. It could even be an attempt to surprise you! Dogs don't find the smell of their own waste unpleasant, otherwise, why would they sniff at their fellow dogs' droppings outside?

Why does a dog suddenly start urinating indoors?

There are several possibilities. The bed might provide comfort and a sense of security, especially for dogs that rarely sleep on their owners' beds. Or, it could be due to extreme stress, which might stem from your absence or a sudden loud noise downstairs, among other things.

What should I do?

First and foremost, remember: if you catch your dog in the act, don't scold it later. Dogs don't understand why you're upset, and it might even encourage more of these behaviors in the future.

Next, ensure you clean up with products that can effectively remove the dog's scent, especially urine. Simply using a washing machine might not be enough, as the lingering smell could lead to repeat offenses.
