Teddy Bear Fur Grooming: No Trim, Slow Process?
When grooming a Teddy Bear puppy, there are several key points to consider:
1. Vaccination First: It's important to wait until after the puppy has received its vaccinations before shaving its fur. Typically, a bath follows the haircut, but it's not recommended to bathe a dog before vaccination, as it can lead to a chill and weaken their immune system.
2. Keep Warm: On cooler days, it's essential to dress your newly shaved Teddy Bear in a protective garment. The short fur can make them more susceptible to the cold and potential illness.
3. Enhance Nutrition: After the puppy's fur has been shaved, it's a good idea to boost their nutrition. Foods rich in lecithin and fish oil can help ensure that the new fur grows in better quality.
Designing and Styling a Teddy Bear Puppy:
1. Barbie Type: For puppies under 12 months old, the Barbie (幼犬) style is a popular choice. This involves a rougher texture in the face, throat, legs, and under the tail. After trimming, the legs should be clearly defined, and the tail shaped into a fluffy ball. To maintain a tidy and elegant appearance, the puppy's overall coat can be gently styled.
2. English Saddle Style: The British saddle type requires the removal of fur from the face, throat, forelimbs, and tail. A tuft of fur is left at the wrist and tail root. After trimming, the joints of the forelimbs should have fur, and the tail tip should be shaped into a fluffy ball. The back should have a smooth curve, with the sides and lower back left with arched tufts. The rest of the fur is trimmed short to define the shape, and the cheeks can be slightly trimmed for a balanced look.
3. Continental Type: The face, throat, feet, forecheeks, and tail root require fur removal. Most of the back fur should be shaved, except for the hips, which are left in fluffy balls. After trimming, the legs and joints above the forelegs should be visible. The forelimbs should be held in place with a leash, and the hind legs with a fluffy ball. All fur on the cheeks and paws should be removed, revealing the fluffy balls and paws. The tail tip should have a ball of fur. Additional trimming may be done on other parts to maintain the overall stability.
4. Athletic Type: For active Teddy Bear puppies, the trimming should be precise. The face, legs, throat, and base of the tail should be shaved, leaving a tuft of hair in a cap shape. The tail base should be shaped into a fluffy ball. The body outline should be clear and natural, with the fur on the trunk and legs not exceeding 1 inch in length, as the legs' fur can be slightly longer than the trunk.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your Teddy Bear puppy is both comfortable and stylish.
