To significantly reduce the risk of skin diseases in dogs, here are three essential practices:

1. Maintain Dry and Clean Bedding: This is of utmost importance. Fungi and mites thrive in damp, dirty environments. It's best to cover the bedding with a blanket, such as an old towel or sheet, which can be easily washed. Think of it like changing your sheets regularly. Aim to wash the bedding at least once a week. Additionally, regularly expose the bedding to sunlight.

2. Avoid Placing Bedding Directly on the Ground: Especially on the ground floor. If the bedding is directly on the floor, the heat generated by the dog while sleeping cannot dissipate, leading to moisture buildup. After a night's rest, feel the side of the bedding that touches the ground. It's preferable to provide your dog with a bed that is elevated and wellventilated, such as a small wooden bed. If a bed is not available, during humid weather, it's better for the dog to sleep on the floor rather than on the ground bedding, as the floor is less likely to retain moisture than the bedding.

3. Regularly Groom Your Dog's Fur: Daily grooming is ideal. It's currently shedding season, so regular grooming removes a significant amount of loose fur, reducing the accumulation of dust and bacteria. It also allows the dog's fur to breathe and promotes circulation in the skin, contributing to overall skin health.
