Identifying Purebred Akita Inus:

Purebred Akita Inus possess distinct characteristics that set them apart. These include a white face, a white chest, white四肢 (with varying degrees of white), and a white tip on the tail. Typically, the back of an Akita's neck is white, with the size of the white patch varying. This white patch does not necessarily affect the dog's appearance. However, if the white extends around the neck and connects to the white chest, it is known as a "white shawl" and is sometimes considered unlucky, which may result in deductions during competitions. Nonetheless, a white patch that does not fully encircle the neck does not negatively impact the dog's appearance.

When young, many Akita Inus have gray or black mixed fur, especially at the roots, and their noses and faces are also black. This is due to pigment accumulation, which usually fades by around 5 months of age, although the rate of fading can differ among individuals. By the time they are 2 years old, the majority of this coloration will have disappeared. Puppies with gray patches may not sell well, but as they grow, their coat becomes deeper and more beautiful than the yellow fur of their youth. Some Akita Inus may have yellow fur around their eyes and mouths, which will fade with age but will not completely disappear. Yellow fur that resembles a red circle can also appear as they grow, but it will not fade completely like black fur.
