My little cat is quite young, and due to the recent move, it's had a tough time adjusting, which has weakened its immune system and led to a ringworm infection. I discovered this one day while feeding it. The cat had only lost a small patch of fur on its ear, with a wound on top. I sent a photo to the cat shelter for advice, and they suggested it might have been scratched during play, and it would heal on its own.

However, a few days later, I noticed that the fur loss on the cat's ear had worsened significantly, and there was no sign of the skin healing and forming scabs as it would after a normal scratch.

The next day, I bought a Wood's lamp to inspect it at home, and under the light, we confirmed it was indeed ringworm, with the infection spreading across the entire ear. After putting an Elizabethan collar on the cat, it seemed extremely uncomfortable, struggling to walk normally, and it broke my heart to see it in such pain.

Since my cat is only a couple of months old, I was hesitant to give it Itraconazole. Also, the area of infection wasn't too extensive, so we treated it with an external spray throughout the 20day healing process. By the end, the cat was mostly recovered, with no green fluorescence visible under the lamp.

Home Remedy Guide for Cat Ear Ringworm:

● Ringworm Medication: Saline solution, iodine, and Terbinafine hydrochloride spray

● Necessary Tools: Makeup pads or sterile gauze, medical sterile cotton swabs, dry paper towels, and a Wood's lamp

Treatment Steps:

1. Hold the cat in your arms and comfort it gently. Then, use a pad or sterile gauze soaked in saline solution to gently wipe away the scabs and dandruff from the affected ear area.

2. Disinfect the area with iodine, let it dry, and then spray on Pipute (Terbinafine hydrochloride spray) twice to three times a day, one to two sprays each time.

3. Make sure to fit the cat with an Elizabethan collar to prevent it from scratching and causing further skin damage or infection.

4. Wear disposable gloves when applying the medication, and wash your hands immediately after the procedure.

5. Before the healing is complete, keep the cat out of your bedroom, as ringworm is a zoonotic disease, and those with weakened immunity are more susceptible to infection. If the infection is severe, consider isolating the cat in a small room or area.

6. Regularly clean and disinfect items where your cat frequently stays, like sofas, cushions, and beds, using hypochlorite disinfectant or petspecific disinfectants.

7. Supplement your cat's diet with fish oil and Shiwibei (a vitamin B complex solution), ensuring its cat food has ample protein to boost its immune system, aid in skin repair, and prevent recurrence.

8. Check the cat with the Wood's lamp every few days, and continue treatment until there is no sign of ringworm. It's crucial to let your cat enjoy plenty of sunlight, as it can significantly enhance the effectiveness of the treatment!

Ringworm can be quite stubborn, so it's essential to stay committed to the treatment. If you're a parent dealing with a similar situation, don't worry. If the medication isn't effective, don't hesitate to seek veterinary care. In the end, I hope all our feline friends stay healthy and grow up to be adorable little piglets!
