Causes of the Common Cold:

Typically, diagnosis is made based on symptoms such as coughing, runny nose, sneezing, irregular body temperature, and watery eyes, along with a history of exposure to cold. Identifying these symptoms makes the diagnosis straightforward.
Symptoms of the Common Cold:
Ailing dogs may exhibit signs of depression, a lack of interest, irregular body temperature, and cold extremities like the tips of their ears and nose. The conjunctiva may appear reddened or slightly swollen, and they may tear up. A fever is common, accompanied by coughing, watery discharge from the nose, and a tendency to scratch at the nose due to itching. In severe cases, dogs may become sensitive to light, experience dry mouth and throat, rapid breathing, and an increased heart rate.
Preventive Measures:
Winter, with its lower temperatures, is a peak season for the common cold. Ensuring adequate warmth is crucial. For instance, Shih Tzus, especially those with their fur shaved, may need a coat to protect against the cold. A cozy bed with a pad is essential during sleep. Since grooming often involves shaving the belly, which is highly sensitive to temperature, a pad should be used to protect the belly from catching a chill. Regular exercise to boost the dog's immune system is also recommended. A balanced diet is important to maintain good health and reduce the risk of illness.
Treatment Measures:
Understanding the cause of the illness is key to preventing recurrence. Early treatment may include injections of 30% Anilerin, Analgin, or Beralin, administered once daily, with a dosage of 2 milliliters per injection. Oral administration of Propyphenazone can also be effective, with a dosage of 0.1 to 1 gram per administration.
