Addressing Feline Malnutrition: Effective Solutions Exp
Symptoms: The ailing cat exhibits pale conjunctiva, a thin and weak constitution, lying on its side with its mouth open, the tongue semiprotruding from the mouth, showing a dark red hue. It struggles with breathing and swallowing difficulties. The coat is disheveled, and there is a pronounced depression in the lumbarsacral region, leading to a hunched posture. The scapulae are curved and abnormally expanded. The limbs show severe muscle atrophy, with the hind limbs being more affected. There is a response to touch, but the reaction intensifies upon needle stimulation.
Treatment:
In the first phase, administer 2 milliliters of Vitamin D and Collodial Calcium intramuscularly, once daily. Concurrently, infuse 10 milliliters of Calcium Gluconate into 50 milliliters of 5% glucose solution, administering this intravenously once daily. Modify the diet by incorporating a small amount of cooked fish into rice and cornmeal, feeding this mixture in small portions.
In the second phase, add 1.0 milliliter of Vitamin B1 to 50 milliliters of 5% glucose injection for intravenous infusion, administered once daily. Additionally, provide the cat with 5 tablets of Vitamin B1 orally, once daily. Continue the diet with a small amount of cooked fish mixed with rice and cornmeal.
