One: Causes of Diarrhea in Young Rabbits

1. Stress Response: Young rabbits have not yet fully developed their digestive absorption, immune system, and metabolic regulation functions. During winter, with low temperatures, harsh weather, and reduced sunlight, combined with the impact of environmental changes and weaning stress, these factors can weaken the rabbits' internal digestive absorption capabilities. Additionally, young rabbits often lack control over their food intake, consuming whatever is offered. If the owner does not provide a balanced diet, this can lead to overeating, causing incomplete digestion and absorption of food within the digestive tract. This overburdens the gastrointestinal system, leading to a range of issues such as bloating, loss of appetite, and diarrhea.

2. Decreased Immunity: Weaning can cause stress in young rabbits, which in turn lowers their body's immunity. This can lead to various adverse reactions, including weakness, weight loss, rough fur, decreased appetite, or even vitamin deficiencies, resulting in symptoms like anemia and malnutrition. Such conditions can also make young rabbits more susceptible to colds and pneumonia. In summary, a weakened immune system, coupled with the young rabbits' underdeveloped digestive system, can easily lead to diarrhea.

3. Poor Rearing and Management: The health of young rabbits is greatly influenced by the owner's management style. For instance, if the owner does not feed the rabbits at regular intervals or in appropriate quantities, the rabbits may overeat, leading to indigestion. Poor insulation in the rabbit hutch can also cause dampness, leading to diarrhea. Other factors that can trigger diarrhea include overfeeding at night, rabbits drinking cold water, or consuming moldy feed. Feeding highprotein or highenergy diets can overwhelm the rabbits' digestive systems, causing indigestion and potentially leading to diseases like Weybridge bacillus. Poor hygiene in the rabbit hutch, such as not promptly disposing of feces or failing to disinfect and clean regularly, can also contribute to diarrhea in young rabbits.

Dr. Oxygen Pet温馨提示: Failing to prevent coccidiosis in rabbits can also lead to diarrhea. It's a test of the owner's patience, but to maintain the rabbit's health, some effort is indeed required.
