How to Treat Canine Distemper
One: Antiviral Therapy for Canine Distemper
1. Monoclonal antibodies against canine distemper virus, administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dose of 0.5 to 1 milliliter per kilogram of body weight, once daily for three consecutive days.
2. Ribavirin, injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dose of 5 to 7 milliliters per kilogram of body weight, once daily.
3. Shuanghuanglian, injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dose of 60 milliliters per kilogram of body weight, once daily.
4. Interferon, administered every other day, with a dose of 10w to 20w units injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly.
Two: Antibacterial and Antiinflammatory Measures
1. Ampicillin, injected intramuscularly at a dose of 10 to 20 milliliters per kilogram of body weight, administered subcutaneously or through intravenous drip, twice or thrice daily.
2. Cefazolin sodium, injected intramuscularly at a dose of 15 to 30 milliliters per kilogram of body weight, or administered through intravenous drip, three to four times daily.
3. Amoxicillin and potassium clavulanate suspension, injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dose of 0.1 milliliter per kilogram of body weight, once daily.
4. Enrofloxacin, injected intramuscularly at a dose of 2.5 to 5 milliliters per kilogram of body weight, or administered orally, subcutaneously, or through intravenous drip, twice daily.
Three: Heatclearing and Detoxification
1. Bupleurum injection, administered intramuscularly at a dose of 2 milliliters, twice daily.
2. Qingkailing oral liquid, administered at a dose of 0.2 to 0.4 milliliters per dose, twice daily.
Four: Antiemetic and Sedative Treatment
Metoclopramide, administered orally or subcutaneously at a dose of 0.2 to 0.5 milliliters per kilogram of body weight, three to four times daily.
Five: Symptom Relief
1. Aminophylline, administered orally at a dose of 10 to 15 milliliters per kilogram of body weight, twice or thrice daily, or injected intramuscularly or through intravenous drip at a dose of 50 to 100 milliliters.
2. Pentoxyverine, administered at a dose of 25 milliliters per kilogram of body weight, orally, twice or thrice daily.
3. Fluid supplementation, such as Ringer's solution, glucose saline, or normal saline, can be chosen.
