Peripapillary discharge can be categorized into two types: physiological and pathological. The lactation process during pregnancy and breastfeeding is a normal physiological occurrence. Pathological discharge refers to spontaneous, unilateral or bilateral discharge from one or more ducts during nonlactating periods, which is persistent and has a complex etiology. The most common cause is intraductal papilloma, followed by breast cystic hyperplasia, ductal ectasia, and other conditions.

Peripapillary discharge is one of the common symptoms of breast diseases. It is often classified into five types based on the color and nature of the discharge: serous discharge, bloody discharge, milklike discharge, purulent discharge, and clear liquid discharge.

Oral Medication Treatment: Patients are prescribed 0.5g of Amoxicillin capsules, taken orally three times a day, and 0.4g of Metronidazole tablets, taken three times a day. After one to two weeks, the discharge usually decreases significantly.

Surgical Treatment: After injecting 0.2 to 0.5 ml of methylene blue into the duct, the affected duct and breast segment are removed.
