Ⅰ. Symptoms of Flea Infestation in Cats

Fleas are tiny, wingless parasites that are adept at jumping and can cause significant discomfort to their hosts. They not only irritate the skin but also have the potential to transmit diseases. Typically, pets that are not wellmaintained in terms of hygiene are more susceptible to fleas. These pests are so small that they often appear as tiny grains to the naked eye. Cats suffering from fleas may exhibit symptoms such as itching, red and swollen skin, and excessive scratching. It's crucial to treat these cases promptly to prevent an infestation from worsening.

Ⅱ. Treatment Methods

For cats with sparse fur or thin hair, spoton treatments are highly effective. For instance, using a product like Adec flea treatment, first, cover the cat's eyes, nose, and mouth to prevent any spray from reaching these sensitive areas. Then, apply the treatment to all other parts of the cat's body. After application, wrap the cat securely in a blanket for 10 to 20 minutes to ensure the fleas are killed. Finally, use a pair of tweezers to carefully remove each flea, which should effectively clear the infestation.

It's also recommended to use a catspecific topical flea treatment. Avoid bathing the cat for about 7 days before and after applying the treatment to ensure the medication's effectiveness. Always follow the dosage instructions carefully and never exceed the recommended amount, as this can lead to poisoning. After treatment, fit the cat with an Elizabethan collar to prevent it from licking the treated area and potentially suffering from vomiting or diarrhea. To reduce the risk of parasitic infections, both for the pet and the owner, it's important to schedule regular deworming. Puppies should be dewormed monthly, while adult cats should be dewormed every three months.

Warm Reminders:

During the process of caring for your cat, regular administration of deworming medications and the use of deworming tablets can effectively prevent various skin diseases caused by parasites. During the recovery period, maintain a clean and wellventilated living environment for your cat, ensuring that the space is hygienic and comfortable.
