The Pterosaur Lizard, also known as the Central Bearded Dragon, is a diurnal species belonging to the family Agamidae. It primarily inhabits the eastern half of Australia. These reptiles typically reach a full body length of about 45 centimeters, with the largest individuals capable of growing up to approximately 55 centimeters. The Pterosaur Lizard primarily feeds on insects and plants, making it a omnivorous creature.

Before you embark on the journey of keeping a Pterosaur Lizard, there are several essential items you will need to prepare: a habitat, lighting, bedding materials, calcium powder, and feeding bowls.

• Habitat

When selecting a habitat, consider the space requirements, but it is crucial to invest in a temperaturecontrolled enclosure. A dualtemperature control system is ideal, but at the very least, a singletemperature control is necessary. Pterosaur Lizards are highly sensitive to temperature, and proper temperature regulation is vital for their survival and wellbeing.

• Lighting

As ectothermic animals, Pterosaur Lizards require specialized lighting in addition to a temperaturecontrolled habitat. This is because they cannot rely solely on the warmth of the enclosure to regulate their body temperature. It is essential to have ceramic heat lamps, UVA lamps, and UVB lamps. Use UVA and UVB lamps during the day for 8 hours to aid in digestion, maintain normal metabolism, and provide energy. Pterosaur Lizards are coldblooded, and if the environment is too cool, their energy levels and digestion will gradually decline.

• Bedding Materials

For young Pterosaur Lizards, you can use newspapers or kraft paper as bedding. As the lizard grows and its size stabilizes, you can switch to corn shavings or reptile sand for better waste management, or even cat litter for convenience.

• Calcium Powder

Since their diet is often low in calcium, it is important to supplement their diet with calcium. D3 calcium powder is typically administered once a week, mixed into their food.

• Feeding Bowls

Given the nature of the bedding, it is advisable to use insectproof feeding bowls when feeding insects like Dubia roaches or crickets. This ensures that the insects do not escape into the bedding, making it difficult for the lizard to consume them.

• Important Notes

The ambient temperature for Pterosaur Lizards should generally be maintained at 37 degrees Celsius during the day and between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius at night. When feeding insects, ensure that the insects are not larger than the distance between the lizard's eyes, and start with a base of 5 insects, gradually increasing the amount to avoid overfeeding.
