Section 1: Symptoms of Canine Pyoderma

Pyoderma in dogs often begins with the appearance of red rashes on the skin. Initially, these rashes are accompanied by small blisters of varying sizes. Once these blisters burst, large scabs form, and upon examination under a microscope, the pus from the ruptured boils is found to contain a high concentration of Staphylococcus bacteria. Dogs suffering from pyoderma experience intense itching, which leads them to scratch, chew, or rub the affected areas in an attempt to alleviate the discomfort. Unfortunately, this behavior can exacerbate the condition, leading to more severe infections.

Section 2: Skin Symptoms of Fungal Infections in Dogs

Fungal infections in dogs can manifest as red, swollen skin, hair loss, rough hair that may fall out from the middle, dandruff, and scabs. These infections also cause itching, prompting dogs to continuously scratch or rub the affected areas. A preliminary scraping can be done to identify the fungus. Common types of fungi found in dogs include Microsporum canis and Malassezia, among others.

How to Treat Canine Skin Diseases?

Bacterial infections can be treated with saltwater, which can be either purchased or homemade. First, trim the affected dog's hair and surrounding fur, then rinse the area with saltwater. For severe skin conditions, topical treatments alone may not be sufficient. Oral antibiotics, such as amoxicillin for pets, are necessary. The dosage for amoxicillin is typically 1222mg/kg, given twice or thrice daily. To aid in the healing process, vitamin B2 tablets can be administered, as they are beneficial for the regeneration of a dog's fur and skin.
