的性格 Emergency: What to Do If Your Cat Eats a Green Pot
Signs of Poisoning:
When cats accidentally ingest toxic substances, it can irritate the oral mucosa, leading to inflammation and pain. Symptoms may include excessive drooling, difficulty swallowing, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and more.
Treatment for Poisoning:
1. In the early stages of illness, vomiting helps expel ingested toxins. It is crucial not to rush to stop vomiting; instead, wait until the vomiting has ceased before administering antiemetic medication. A common antiemetic is Metoclopramide, at a dosage of 11.5mg per kilogram of body weight, administered via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. Additionally, an adsorbent like activated charcoal can be used, at a dosage of 1020mg per kilogram of body weight, taken orally three times a day.
2. In the early stages of diarrhea, it's important not to rush to stop it either. Wait until the bowel contents have been expelled before using antidiarrheal medication. For example, Atropine sulfate can be injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dosage of 0.05mg per kilogram of body weight. If the cat becomes dehydrated, intravenous fluid therapy should be administered, and mannitol can be added to the infusion at a dosage of 2g per kilogram of body weight if the cat is experiencing oliguria or anuria.
3. To combat bacterial infections and inflammation, a broadspectrum antibiotic such as Gentamicin can be given orally or by intramuscular injection.
4. To prevent shock, Dexamethasone can be administered intramuscularly or intravenously at a dosage of 0.5mg per kilogram of body weight, with repeat dosing every 24 hours as needed.
