Pigeon's Early Morning Chirping: Possible Reasons Expla
Part 1: Reasons Why Parrots Screech in the Morning
1. Just like roosters crow at the break of dawn, parrots may also emit calls as a part of their biological clock. Many parrots are inclined to squawk either at the first light of day or in the evening.
2. Adult parrots can be particularly sensitive, and they might become startled by surrounding noises or light, prompting them to emit loud squawks.
3. If parrots eat too early in the evening and wake up feeling hungry and thirsty, they might use their calls to draw their owner's attention, hoping for a quick meal to be served.
Part 2: What to Do When Your Parrot Keeps Screeching in the Morning?
Many parrots have developed the habit of squawking early in the morning. As working individuals, we can't rise as early as our feathered friends. So, how can we get our parrots to remain quiet until our regular wakeup time?
Firstly, as the owner, you should ensure that there is an ample supply of water and food in the cage the night before, so that when the parrot wakes up, it will immediately see the food and start eating, thus neglecting to squawk.
Secondly, if your parrot is accustomed to squawking at the first light, you can cover the cage with a dark cloth before going to bed. This will make the parrot think it's still dark when it wakes up the next day, preventing it from squawking immediately. You can then remove the cloth when you naturally wake up. However, this method may disrupt the parrot's biological clock and potentially lead to other health issues.
If you live in a noisy environment, your parrot might frequently become startled and squawk. It's advisable to keep the parrot in a quieter area, reducing the chances of it being frightened by car horns, firecrackers, and other noises.
Lastly, parrots also need companionship. Parrots that are kept alone for long periods may become particularly needy for their owner's attention. Consider getting a samesex companion for your parrot to keep it engaged and prevent it from fixating solely on you.
