Symptoms of Canine Entropion

One: Causes

Canine entropion can be congenital, often resulting from the loss of orbital fat and muscle atrophy, or it can develop later in life, predominantly in older dogs.

Two: Symptoms

Pain, facial spasms, conjunctivitis, keratitis, excessive tearing, and difficulty in keeping the eyes open are common symptoms of entropion.

Three: Treatment Methods

Most cases of canine entropion can be corrected through surgical intervention. Dogs suitable for surgery are typically between 4 to 6 months old or have fully developed facial features. The surgery usually involves the reduction of the eyelid fissure by external canthus fixation. During the procedure, the upper eyelid skin flap is removed, while the lower eyelid skin flap is preserved. After the surgery, the incisions are sutured, and the healing process begins.
