What to Do When Parrotfish Are Attacking Each Other?

1. Upgrade the Aquarium: If you have multiple parrotfish, consider upgrading to a larger tank to provide ample space for them to move around. Parrotfish are quite territorial, and ensuring they have sufficient room can significantly reduce instances of fighting and biting.

2. Sufficient Feeding: One of the most common reasons for fighting among parrotfish is competition for food. To prevent such altercations, ensure you are feeding them adequately. This means regular and measured feedings, and perhaps more frequent or generous portions if you have a larger group of parrotfish.

3. Add Dividers: If you're housing parrotfish with other fish or have a large number of them, consider inserting a transparent divider in the tank. This allows them to become accustomed to each other's presence. Once they are used to each other, you can attempt to remove the divider.

How to Treat Injuries Caused by Parrotfish Attacks?

1. Natural Healing: If the injury is minor, you can allow the parrotfish to heal on its own. Frequent use of medication can be harmful to them, so simply changing the water regularly and adding some coarse salt can suffice for mild injuries.

2. Apply Antiseptic Ointment: For more severe injuries, you can apply potassium permanganate to the wound. Treat once daily; or, you can sprinkle a small amount of yellow powder or antiseptic medication in the water, allowing the affected fish to soak for about 20 minutes. Improvement should be noticeable within a week.

3. Maintain Stable Environment: During the healing process, it's crucial to keep the water temperature and quality consistent. This includes ensuring water temperature changes do not exceed 2 degrees Celsius and changing the water every three days. A stable environment not only promotes comfort but also accelerates the healing process.
