I. Reasons for a Doe Not Coming into Heat

In general, if a doe does not come into heat within three days after weaning, it may indicate an abnormal condition in the rabbit.

1. Physiological Causes

1. The doe may have a congenital deficiency in progesterone secretion or abnormalities in the reproductive organs.

2. Excessive obesity or underweight in the doe can lead to imbalanced endocrine activity, resulting in a prolonged lack of estrus.

3. The doe may be affected by diseases such as chronic endometritis, ovarian dysfunction, follicular cysts, or uterine pyometra, which can interfere with estrus.

4. If the rabbit's pituitary function is insufficient, even at the age of mating, the reproductive organs may not fully develop.

5. Deficiencies in necessary vitamins and minerals can lead to hormonal imbalances in the rabbit, causing longterm infertility.

2. Pathological Causes

Infection by bacteria like Streptococcus, Chlamydia, Anaplasma, or Toxoplasma can lead to diseases such as metritis, thereby inhibiting estrus.

3. Management Causes

1. Factors such as the environment, weather, temperature, humidity, and light intensity in the rabbitry can affect the doe or cause stress from external factors.

2. Poor management and feeding of the doe can also contribute to the issue.

II. Situations Where Does Do Not Come into Heat

1. Absence of Estrus Symptoms

The doe may not show estrus symptoms due to insufficient or lack of孕酮 secretion, which fails to stimulate physiological reactions in the doe.

2. Estrus Triggered by External Factors

The doe has a certain amount of progesterone, and although estrus symptoms can be induced through other means, the limited secretion may not promote ovulation, leading to the doe's reluctance to mate.

3. Normal Estrus and Mating without Pregnancy

It may be that the doe's progesterone levels are normal during the estrus phase, but after mating, a subsequent blockage in progesterone secretion prevents the fertilized egg from implanting normally, resulting in the doe mating but not becoming pregnant or experiencing repeated estrus.

Tips:

1. It is advisable to cull does that are excessively overweight.

2. Old, weak, sick, or malformed does should be culled.

3. Does that have not become pregnant twice or more should be culled.

4. Does with poor maternal instincts should not be bred.

5. In the fall, infertility in does may not be solely due to the doe but could also be because the sperm of the buck loses fertility due to hot weather.

6. Avoid using hormones to induce estrus in rabbits.

7. Do not use inappropriate methods to induce estrus, such as applying iodine alcohol to the doe's vulva to stimulate estrus.

OxyPet Doctor's Tip: There are many reasons why a doe may not come into heat. To effectively address this issue, the owner should first determine the cause of the doe's lack of estrus and solve the problem at its root to avoid causing harm to the rabbit.
