Symptoms of Ringworm in Cats

One: Causes

Ringworm in cats often occurs when their immune system is compromised, either due to a weakened state or from the use of high doses of corticosteroids that lead to immunerelated diseases. Additionally, cats that are malnourished or weak, living in hot and humid environments, are more susceptible to developing ringworm.

Two: Symptoms

Once a cat contracts ringworm, the fungus attacks the hair follicles, causing local hair breakage or loss. This results in a patch of skin that appears as if it has been singed by a cigarette, often taking on a circular shape.

Three: Treatment Methods

Ringworm is contagious to humans, so it's crucial to take precautions when treating your cat. Upon discovering that your cat has ringworm, it's important to isolate the pet immediately. Next, disinfect and sterilize the affected area with iodine solution. Then, apply a product like Fenster or Fennoen spray to the affected region until the ringworm is cleared. As a supplement, you can provide your cat with Pantothenic Acid Vitamin B, which can aid in the healing process.
