Understanding the Causes of Bloody Dog Poop

1. Intestinal Parasite Infection

This is a common gastrointestinal disorder in dogs. Parasites can reside in a dog's intestines, and factors such as the owner's improper diet and inadequate daily care can lead to intestinal parasite infections.

Signs of this condition include a lack of appetite, malnutrition, weight loss, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, and sometimes blood in the stool. Intermittent abdominal pain can also be a symptom, as can a change in the dog's bowel habits.

2. Constipation

① Dogs may ingest indigestible objects like hair, paper clips, etc., or consume excessive amounts of animal organs, meat, and bones over a long period.

② Disruption of the dog's digestive and absorption patterns can lead to a change in bowel habits.

③ Issues with food absorption.

④ Lack of exercise, which can prevent the dog from burning calories normally.

3. Bacterial Enteritis

Dogs that consume unclean, cold, or spoiled food, or food containing irritants or foreign objects can cause intestinal mucosal damage and inflammation of the deeper tissues, leading to symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. This condition is known as bacterial enteritis.

Symptoms may include a "prayer position" where the dog leans on its elbows and chest on cold surfaces, an unsteady gait, and occasional foulsmelling, bloody stools.

4. Viral Enteritis

Dogs suffering from viral enteritis, such as canine parvovirus, canine coronavirus, or canine distemper virus, can experience gastrointestinal inflammation due to viral infections.

Signs include listlessness, decreased appetite, mild vomiting, fever, and soft, gray, yellow, or milky stools with gelatinous mucus.

5. Pancreatitis

Canine pancreatitis is a disease caused by various factors and can be triggered by the digestive action of trypsin within the pancreas. Inflammation, bleeding, and even necrosis can occur. Symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, vomiting, fever, and bloody stools.
