What many may not realize is that the Xishi Hamster, a creature of considerable allure, is actually a selectively bred variant of the popular Silk Bear Hamster. Merchants have honed in on this longhaired subset, defining it primarily by factors such as eye color, fur texture, volume, sheen, and facial structure.

Part One: Distinctive Features of the Silk Bear and Xishi Hamsters

1. Fur Color

The Silk Bear Hamster is typically recognized for its yellow and cream hues, with occasional subtle brown spots or white fur, though these are not prominent. The original Silk Bear was a golden brown, with grayishwhite belly fur. Over time, however, the breed has diversified into over forty different colors, predominantly yellow and cream, with variations in fur length, from short to long, straight to curly, and wavy.

Additionally, Silk Bears come in two types: those with glossy fur and those without.
