1. The Cat Bed

It's quite understandable to want to provide your cat with a cozy cat bed, especially if you have ample space and a comfortable budget. However, if you're not particularly welloff, the cat bed might be one of the first luxuries you can forgo when welcoming a feline friend into your home.

Cats are incredibly adaptable creatures, capable of finding a comfortable spot to nap almost anywhere. You might find your cat lounging on the sofa, in your bed, on the balcony, atop a cabinet, or even under a table, but rarely in its designated cat bed. After all, a cat can sleep on a simple cardboard box, making elaborate and expensive beds with numerous features unnecessary.

2. Cat Toys

While some pet owners enjoy spoiling their cats with a variety of toys, it's important to remember that cats have a multitude of ways to entertain themselves, and their curiosity doesn't last indefinitely. With long periods of sleep, they simply don't have the time to play with a plethora of toys.

For your cat, a few wellchosen toys like a wand or a laser pointer can suffice. These are favorites that cats rarely tire of. Remember, more isn't always better when it comes to cat toys; they can just end up taking up unnecessary space.

3. Cat Clothing

Cat clothing is often one of the least necessary items when it comes to cat care. Cats generally dislike wearing clothes, and some may become completely immobile or unable to walk properly after being dressed. Others may scratch themselves out of discomfort, potentially causing injury.

Buying clothes for your cat is mostly about the fun of posting photos on social media, rather than serving a practical purpose. If you're concerned about your cat getting cold during the winter, consider using a hot water bottle or an electric heating pad under its sleeping area. For hairless cats, however, clothing can be a necessity.

4. Cat Collars

A cat collar is not a staple item in the list of musthave pet supplies. Even collars with insect or mosquito repellent should be avoided.

Many pet owners are tempted to buy decorative collars, but these can be dangerous for cats. Cats are incredibly agile and can leap to unexpected heights. If their collar gets caught on something, they could end up dangling in midair, which is a serious risk. For the safety of your cat, it's best not to use collars or other accessories.
