Did you know? Some actions that may seem like expressions of love for cats can actually be harmful to them! Are you guilty of any of these behaviors?

Feeding a Cat to Fatness

Many cat owners might be influenced by the plethora of adorable photos and videos online, leading them to believe that a cat must have a round belly and a bit of extra weight to look cute. As a result, they strive to fatten up their pets.

However, obesity is incredibly unhealthy for cats and can even be the leading cause of pet health issues. Many chronic diseases in cats are linked to obesity.

What diseases can excessive weight in cats lead to?

Heart Disease: Fat doesn't just accumulate under the skin; high levels of fat in the blood can put a heavy burden on the heart, leading to serious complications.

Diabetes: Diabetes is a lifelong struggle for both humans and cats, and we still can't cure it 100% in cats.

Arthritis: Excess weight can place additional strain on the body, potentially leading to paralysis in severe cases.

Intervertebral Disc Disease: A common complication of obesity, excessive pressure on the spine can cause disabilities in the lower body.

Fractures: A fall can be catastrophic for a cat with a lot of extra weight.

Endocrine System Diseases: Obesity is a sign of suboptimal health, making cats more susceptible to various diseases.

What many cat owners consider a slender body is actually the standard for a healthy cat, not the overweight one they may be aiming for.

Overly Frequent Bathing

Cats are naturally clean animals with a strong selfcleaning ability. They spend time grooming their fur daily, which is why wild cats are clean and can stay odorfree without ever being bathed.

The oils secreted by their sebaceous glands make their fur smooth and strong, protecting their skin from damage.

However, some cat owners not only bathe their cats frequently but also shave their faces and dye their fur. These actions can cause significant harm to a cat's sensitive skin, leading to allergies, infections, and skin diseases.

Putting Collars and Clothing on Cats

Cats have a very acute sense of hearing, three times more sensitive than humans, and can accurately locate and identify sound sources.

Wearing a bell can cause cats to make loud noises while walking, which can damage their hearing and make them feel uncomfortable and irritable.

Additionally, except for certain breeds like hairless cats and curlyhaired cats, most cats do not need to wear clothes.

Cats are more sensitive to束缚 than dogs. Wearing clothes may prevent them from walking or lying down comfortably. Certain materials can also damage their skin and trigger allergic reactions.

FreeRoaming Cats

Allowing cats to roam freely can be very dangerous. If you truly love your cat, don't let it wander! Many cat owners live in cities where there are numerous dangers, with cars being the biggest threat.

Every year, countless cats die in car accidents, and many others suffer from accidents, attacks, dog bites, or poisoning due to exposure to toxic substances.

These tragic cases often involve freeroaming cats that accidentally wander outside, leading to devastating consequences.

Raising Dwarf Cats

The dwarf gene is a defective mutation that should have been淘汰, but humans have used it to breed and perpetuate a new cat breed.

Cats with the dwarf gene will develop genetic cartilage disease 100% of the time, with the severity of the condition varying.

Mild cases may result in swelling of the limbs, a stiff tail, and painful walking. Severe cases can lead to complete deformation of the limbs, issues with the trachea and heart, and even paralysis.

Cats have a high tolerance for pain, so they may be in pain even when there are no apparent symptoms, and by the time any abnormalities are noticed, it may be too late.

So, those seemingly loving actions towards cats can actually be harmful to them.
