As many of you are aware from Dr. Oxygen Pet's past shares, regular teeth brushing is a fantastic way to prevent dental issues such as tartar buildup and other oral diseases in dogs. Today, I'll guide you through the proper technique for brushing your dog's teeth.

Frequency of Brushing Your Dog's Teeth:

For dogs with healthy teeth, it's recommended that their owners brush their teeth once every 1 to 2 weeks.

If your dog already has mild tartar, increasing the brushing to 1 to 2 times a week would be more beneficial.

For those of you who are particularly patient and have the time, if you wish to brush your dog's teeth daily, it's advisable not to use toothpaste. Instead, simply use a dental brush or a dental rubber brush with your hand to gently scrub their teeth.

Important Notes:

1. Always use petspecific toothpaste and brushes, or dental rubber brushes, when brushing your dog's teeth. Never use human toothpaste or brushes on your dog.

2. Aim to brush your dog's teeth for about 2 to 5 minutes each time, avoiding excessive brushing.

3. Brushing in an upanddown motion is more effective than a sidetoside motion.

Dietary Choices:

1. In most cases, it's best to limit soft food, as while it's easy to digest, it can also stick to your dog's teeth. If you're often busy and unable to clean your dog's teeth promptly, this can significantly increase the risk of oral problems.

2. Regularly offering dental chews or large bones from animals like pigs or cows can help your dog clean their teeth while chewing, without causing discomfort to their gastrointestinal system.

3. Avoid letting your dog drink water immediately after eating, as this can also lead to food sticking to their teeth and may not be good for their digestion.

Dr. Oxygen Pet's Tip: It's crucial for owners to fully understand the importance of regular teeth brushing for their dogs. Oral health issues in pets are not to be taken lightly, as they can cause significant harm. Don't dismiss teeth brushing as unnecessary or ineffective; waiting until problems arise can lead to regret. Every dog owner wants their furry friend to live a highquality life, and this is where scientific and careful pet care management comes into play.
