Hello everyone, welcome to Oxygen Pet Doctor~

Hey there, I'm Oxygen Pet Doctor. If your cat is suffering from ringworm, I wouldn't recommend using hydrogen peroxide. It's a highly irritating disinfectant. Moreover, relying solely on hydrogen peroxide won't cure ringworm; it can only serve as a disinfectant. It's best to combine it with other medications for a comprehensive treatment.

Hydrogen peroxide is commonly referred to as hydrogen peroxide solution.

This solution is effective in reducing inflammation and killing a variety of pathogens, including fungi and bacteria. It is often used in clinical settings to clean wounds, primarily because the chemical substances within the solution have an oxidizing ability that can help reduce the risk of infection. It's advisable to use it under a veterinarian's guidance.

However, if the wound is bleeding or the skin is severely damaged, it's generally not recommended to use this medication, as it may irritate the wound and cause pain.

Ringworm in cats typically presents as circular or elliptical patches with gray scales, leading to rough hair texture. The affected fur may fall out in clumps or break off, accompanied by itching and scratching.

Since the ringworm wound is already broken, using hydrogen peroxide for cleaning can be quite painful. It's better to switch to iodine tincture for disinfection.

How to Treat Ringworm:

① Isolate the affected cat, put on a collar, and shave the fur around the ringworm patches to apply medication. Clean the local scales with iodine tincture;

② Apply antifungal ointments such as Dasatinib (ketokonazole ointment) or terbinafine hydrochloride cream to the affected areas twice a day;

③ For systemic infections, oral itraconazole capsules can be given once daily, with the dosage depending on the cat's weight (510mg per kilogram). The treatment course is typically 48 weeks;

It's important to note that these medications should not be used longterm or on young kittens, as they can potentially harm the liver. For adult cats with small affected areas, it's also best not to use them without consulting a vet;

④ Supplement with Vitamin B to boost the cat's immune system. Petspecific Prenatal multivitamin tablets are recommended to promptly provide the kitten with Bcomplex vitamins, aiding in the rapid healing of skin wounds;

⑤ Regularly clean and disinfect the home to prevent fungal residue. Also, ensure your cat gets plenty of sunlight, which can act as a natural杀菌 agent.

Summary:

When your cat has ringworm or other skin conditions, it's best not to use hydrogen peroxide for disinfection.

While hydrogen peroxide can clean wounds and has some antibacterial properties, it may irritate the wound and cause discomfort. Switching to iodine tincture for disinfection is advisable.

Follow this with topical antifungal ointments like Dasatinib or terbinafine hydrochloride cream, and ensure your cat receives a vitamin B supplement and omega3 fatty acids to enhance skin immunity.

If the cat's fungal infection (ringworm) is severe, oral itraconazole can be prescribed based on the cat's weight, as it can selectively inhibit fungal cell cytochrome P450 enzymes, speeding up the recovery of ringworm.
