Understanding the Four Types of Canine Distemper Diseases:

Firstly, respiratory symptoms are common, followed by gastrointestinal issues, and then neurological and dermatological manifestations.

In the early stages of canine distemper, symptoms often include respiratory issues and mild gastrointestinal disturbances. Dogs may suddenly develop a high fever, accompanied by sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. They may also show signs of lethargy and loss of appetite.

As the disease progresses into the middle stage, both respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms intensify, leading to recurring high fevers. The eyes and nostrils may produce a purulent discharge, which can become sticky and adhere to the eyes and nose. Simultaneously, dogs may experience severe gastrointestinal issues, such as vomiting and diarrhea. The paws or nose may also become hyperkeratotic, and the dog may develop a scaly, pustular skin condition.

In the later stages of canine distemper, neurological symptoms may appear, such as unsteady walking, head tilting, mild paralysis, and partial or complete paralysis. The eyes may tremble, and it's often challenging to save dogs in this stage. Those who do recover may suffer from sequelae. Therefore, early detection and prompt treatment are crucial for the recovery of dogs with canine distemper. There is still hope for a cure if treated promptly in the early stages.
