Addressing the Issue of Does Not Come into Heat: Strategies for Rabbit Breeders

1. Utilizing Male Rabbits for Estrous Stimulation: For does that have been consistently unresponsive to estrous, introducing them to a male rabbit can be effective. The male's presence and interaction can stimulate estrous in some does. Typically, after 23 such encounters, the doe may begin to exhibit normal estrous behavior.

2. Vaginal Stimulation Techniques:

① Gentle tapping on the vulva can encourage estrous. Hold the doe's tail up with one hand and softly tap her vulva with the other. Continue until she raises her hindquarters voluntarily, then place her in the male's cage for mating.

② Fingertip friction can also stimulate estrous. Gently rub the vulva with your fingers for 12 minutes. Once the vulva appears reddened and swollen, immediately place the doe in the male's cage for mating.

③ Applying a 2% dilute iodine solution to the vulvar lips can also prompt estrous. After doing so, introduce the doe to the male's cage for mating.

3. Hormonal Estrous Induction:

① Administer 100 units of pregnant mare serum gonadotropin subcutaneously to the doe the day before mating. Follow this with a 60unit intravenous injection of human chorionic gonadotropin 24 hours later, which can significantly boost estrous response.

② Inject 0.75 to 1ml of dienogest or triple hormone intramuscularly into the unresponsive doe. Typically, estrous will occur within 23 days, allowing for mating to be scheduled.

③ Inject 5 micrograms of ovulationinducing hormone or 0.2 ml of Risedronate into the doe. She can be mated immediately or within 4 hours after the injection.

④ Administer 0.6 ml of folliclestimulating hormone subcutaneously or intramuscularly, dissolved in 4 ml of saline, twice daily for three days. The doe should come into heat on the fourth day. Once estrous is observed, inject 2.5 ml of luteinizing hormone intravenously. Mating should follow immediately for optimal estrous induction.

4. Medicinal Estrous Stimulation: Feeding the doe 35g of estrous powder daily for three days can be effective. Additionally, provide 2 vitamin E tablets daily for 35 days to supplement her diet.

5. Nutritional Estrous Stimulation: For does with poor health that are not coming into heat, breeders can increase their feed intake of complete feed by 12 weeks before mating. Offering a mix of foods like malted barley and carrots can also be beneficial. If complete feed is unavailable, add cooked beans or other nutritional supplements to the feed.

These are some methods suggested by Oxygen Pet Doctor to help rabbit breeders address the issue of does not coming into heat. We hope this information is helpful to you!
