Understanding the Reason Behind Hard and Soft Stools:

1. Gastrointestinal Issues: Hard stools at the beginning and soft, sticky ones at the end can be a sign of insufficient body fluids, leading to dryness. This indicates a lack of adequate nutrition in the body's tissues and organs.

2. Kidney Problems: The kidneys are responsible for regulating bowel movements. When the kidneys fail to produce enough water, constipation can occur, resulting in hard stools at the front.

3. Internal Heat: If the intestines retain feces for a prolonged period, it can lead to dehydration and dryness in the body. Since new feces do not have enough time to lose moisture, they appear hard at the front and soft and sticky at the end.

Treatment:

For relief, you can introduce substances like paraffin oil (1025 ml), castor oil, or sesame oil into the rectum. Alternatively, you can use soap water for enema. First, ensure the cat is secured, then gently introduce warm soap water into the rectum. Apply light pressure on the abdominal area to break up the blockage and facilitate stool passage. If the cat experiences pain, administer 30% analgin or chlorpromazine (15 mg/kg body weight). For persistent constipation that does not respond to enema, consider injecting 10% saltwater or 10% magnesium sulfate into the abdominal blockage. After injection, gently massage the area for a while to help release the stool.

For intestinal constipation, focus on moistening the intestines and regulating the flow of Qi. You can use the Danggui Congrong Decoction: 20g of Danggui, 10g of Congrong, 6g of Fanzhaya Ye, 3g of Houpo, 3g of Zhike, 1.5g of Guangmuxiang, and 8g of Shengqu. After boiling, add paraffin oil or refined oil and administer through the esophagus.

For colonic, cecum, and small colon constipation, focus on promoting bowel movement and using a purgative formula. The Jiudu Chengqi Decoction can be effective: 8g of Dahuang, 15g of Mangxiao, 3g of Zhike, 3g of Houpo, 8g of Jiudu, 3g of Maren, 3g of Muxiang, 3.5g of Cuxiangfu, and 4g of Mutong. Boil Zhike, Houpo, Maren, Mutong, and Cuxiangfu for 20 minutes, then add the rest of the ingredients and administer through the esophagus.
