Essential Equipment for Rabbit Farming

1. Rabbit Feeding Trays

It is recommended that rabbit farmers use hanging, sealed automatic feeding trays for feeding their rabbits. These trays commonly consist of components such as a feeding port, storage bin, eating area, and divider panels, making them easy to hang and convenient for refilling from outside the cage. When rabbits eat, they can simply extend their heads into the tray through the cage opening, which effectively prevents them from soiling or scattering the feed.

2. Rabbit Cages

(1) Breeding Cages: Breeding cages are larger in size, with a length of about 7080 cm, a width of about 7075 cm, a front height of about 4550 cm, and a rear height of about 3540 cm. The bottom panel of the cage should be spaced apart from the waste board.

(2) Young Rabbit Cages: After young rabbits are weaned and vaccinated, they should be placed in young rabbit cages for raising. These cages are best made of horizontal wire mesh, with each cage measuring 30 cm in length, 40 cm in width, 35 cm in front height, and 25 cm in rear height. There should be adequate space between the cages. A row of sealed feeding trays can be hung in front of the cages for easy access. Additionally, a shared grass rack should be placed between every two cages. It is best to keep the number of young rabbits in each cage between 3 to 4.

Feeding Cages: Typically, when young rabbits weigh 1.5 kg, they should be transferred to feeding cages for raising.

3. Automatic Rabbit Waterers

For rabbit waterers, it is best for owners to use a suspended water supply system. This involves hanging a clean water bottle from the top of the rabbit cage using a plastic tube connected to the bottle, which leads to multiple waterers placed at the rear of the cage.

4. Rabbit Litter Boxes

Litter boxes are primarily used for mother rabbits to give birth and raise their young. These boxes should provide warmth, good ventilation, and be appropriately sized. The type of bedding used and its placement inside the box greatly impact the survival rate of the kits. Therefore, it is best to use a sealed or cavelike litter box.

5. Hay Racks

Hay racks are used to feed rabbits fresh or roughage. If the rabbit cage is made of wire mesh, it's best to place the hay rack in the middle above the two cages. For fixedpanel cages, the hay rack can be placed on the side above the cage door. However, to prevent feed from falling through the gaps, it is advisable to reinforce the hay rack with wire.

6. Rabbit Manure and Urine Separation Drainage System

The rabbit manure and urine separation drainage system is an essential piece of equipment in rabbit farming. This system significantly reduces ammonia levels in the rabbit shed, lessens the irritation to rabbit mucous membranes from cage odors, and helps prevent respiratory infections and rhinitis in rabbits.

These are some of the essential equipment for rabbit farming, as introduced by OxyPet Doctor. Paying attention to the details in rabbit farming is crucial for improving the benefits of rabbit raising.
