If a pregnant queen becomes infected, it can lead to stillbirths, miscarriages, and sudden neurological symptoms in newborn kittens. The disease is transmitted through contact with infected feces, as well as through bloodsucking insects and fleas. The causative agent is a virus belonging to the Parvoviridae family, genus Parvovirus. Once inside the body, the virus can survive in the liver for about a year. Immediate treatment is essential for kittens diagnosed with cat flu.
