This illness can occur throughout the year, with a higher incidence during winter. Healthy dogs can become infected by coming into contact with feces and contaminants from sick dogs. The digestive tract is the primary route of transmission.

The incubation period for this disease ranges from 1 to 5 days, and the main symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea. The stool is typically粥样或水样, often mixed with mucus and a small amount of blood. Some puppies may die within 1 to 2 days of onset, but adult dogs rarely succumb to the disease. The virus can survive in feces for 6 to 9 days and remains contagious in water for several days. Poor sanitation, sudden changes in weather, weaning, and longdistance transportation can all trigger the disease.

Prevention is key to reducing the occurrence of this illness. Here are several suggestions for prevention and treatment:

1. Regularly disinfect dog houses, equipment, and clothing that the dogs frequently wear.

2. Ensure proper warmth for the dogs, especially the young ones, to avoid the disease caused by significant temperature differences between day and night.

3. Prevent healthy dogs from coming into contact with sick dogs, as well as with the latter's equipment and clothing.

4. Minimize longdistance transportation of dogs.

5. Isolate sick dogs and treat them accordingly.

6. Only use dog houses and equipment after thorough disinfection. It's also recommended to wait 7 days after a dog has recovered from the illness before allowing it to play with healthy dogs.
