1. Canine distemper primarily affects the respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems of Golden Retrievers. The initial signs of the disease manifest as a biphasic fever pattern, with temperatures soaring to around 40℃ in the early stages. However, after 1 to 2 days, the temperature returns to normal, only to rise again after 2 to 3 days. Other symptoms include yellowing of urine, increased mucopurulent discharge from the eyes and nose, a lack of energy, decreased appetite, although the desire to eat is still present. Additionally, there is often a severe respiratory infection, characterized by elevated temperatures, dry nostrils, a transition from serous to purulent nasal discharge, coughing, rapid breathing, and lung rales upon auscultation. As the disease progresses to its middle stage, respiratory issues can lead to pneumonia and other complications, along with swollen eyelids and conditions such as conjunctivitis and keratitis.

2. In the later stages of the disease, Golden Retrievers may develop corneal ulcers, and the skin may show redness, swelling, and pustular eruptions. There may also be vomiting and diarrhea, with feces emitting a strong, unpleasant odor, containing blood and bubbles.

3. Dogs may exhibit varying degrees of vomiting, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal infections. Once the virus reaches the nervous system, dogs may exhibit involuntary barking, head tremors, spasms, and seizures, eventually leading to paralysis. Neurological symptoms are often irreversible, and even after recovery, dogs may suffer from residual effects.
