Therefore, implementing effective daily hygiene and preventive measures against diseases, adhering to the principle of prevention over treatment, is an extremely important task in dog breeding and rearing. This is a primary responsibility in the prevention and control of canine diseases.

1. Diet Hygiene

(1) Feed Sanitation: It is strictly prohibited to purchase feed (including byproducts) from areas affected by infectious diseases. Each batch of feed must undergo inspection and be confirmed free of infectious pathogens and other toxins before it can be stored. Meat and offal from animals that have died of infectious diseases or unknown causes should not be used as dog food. Animalbased feed should be frozen and stored for a short period. Absolutely no moldy or spoiled feed should be used; meat and fish products should be cleaned of impurities and harmful parts before processing, and then washed with clean water or disinfectant. Vegetables should have rotten parts removed and be thoroughly washed. Grainbased feed should be cooked. During summer, it is best to prepare rice and meat fresh for immediate consumption, and milk should be boiled and disinfected before feeding to dogs.

(2) Water Hygiene: Ensure that dogs have access to sufficient, fresh, and frequently changed water, maintaining its cleanliness. Before refilling the water bowl, always pour out or rinse away any remaining water and debris. Avoid drinking stagnant or polluted water, especially when dogs are in a scattered environment.

(3) Utensil and Feed Room Hygiene: Puppies should have designated feeding utensils, which should be cleaned immediately after use and regularly disinfected by boiling. Leftover food and wastewater should be disposed of promptly. Feed processing tools, such as knives, buckets, and meat grinders, should also be cleaned and disinfected. Feed rooms and processing areas must be kept clean and free from disinfectants, pesticides, and other toxins.

2. Dog and Kennel Hygiene

During the daily care of dogs, it is important to maintain their body cleanliness. Regularly sweep the kennel thoroughly every day, removing leftover food, debris, and feces promptly. The feces in the kennel should be removed and disposed of in a way that is safe and hygienic.

3. Environmental Hygiene

Pay attention to the environmental hygiene around the dog breeding area. Regularly clean the kennel and drinking areas, fill in puddles and manure pits around the kennel, and ensure that drainage ditches and sewers are unobstructed. Focus on managing feces and leftover food, eliminating fly larvae and adult flies, and controlling the spread of mosquitoes. In hot weather, use necessary shading and cooling facilities in the dog's activity area to improve the microclimate of the kennel.
