Cyndi Wang's Pooch: Meet Her Adorable Bichon Frise!
Jolin Tsai's dog is a male white Bichon Frise. Bichon Frises are known for their lively and playful nature, often engaging in numerous activities throughout the day. Regular walks and playtime not only promote digestion and absorption but also contribute to overall health. Despite not ranking high in intelligence, Bichon Frises have a remarkable memory and can be trained to perform amusing tricks that bring joy to their owners. They are highly dependent on humans, friendly towards their families, but can be quite fierce with strangers. Overall, Bichon Frises are lively, friendly, and make excellent pets.
Physical Characteristics:
1. Size
Male and female Bichon Frises typically stand at around 9.5 to 11.5 inches at the shoulder. Symmetry is a key factor to consider. While a bit over this range is acceptable for exceptional individuals, the shoulder height should not exceed 12 inches or be less than 9 inches. The minimum shoulder height for puppies is not suitable.
2. Proportions
The body length is approximately onefourth the height at the shoulders. The distance from the withers to the bottom of the chest is about half the distance from the withers to the ground. The body structure is compact, with a medium build that is neither overweight nor underweight.
3. Gait
The Bichon Frise's running motion is agile, precise, and effortless. When viewed from the side, the front and hind legs extend in coordination, with the forequarters moving freely and the hindquarters providing strong drive. The back maintains a steady line. During movement, the head and neck are slightly upright, and as speed increases, the limbs converge towards the centerline of the body. The footpads are visible when running, and the movements are accurate and fluid.
4. Temperament
Bichon Frises are amiable, wellmannered, sensitive, playful, and deeply affectionate. They are helpful by nature and easily content with small pleasures.
Head:
1. Expression
Soft, deep, curious, and alert.
2. Eyes
Round, black, or dark brown, with no excessive or protruding eyes. Almondshaped or slanting eyes are considered defects. The eyes should be surrounded by black or dark brown skin to enhance their appearance and expression. The area around the eyes must be black. Defects include insufficient or complete lack of pigmentation, resulting in a lackluster or dull expression. Eyes of any color other than black or dark brown are also considered defects.
3. Ears
Deeply set in long flowing hair. If pulled towards the nose, the ear flaps can extend to the center of the snout. The ears are positioned slightly higher than the eyes and are set further back from the head. When alert, the ears become a part of the face.
4. Head
Round and arched towards the eyes.
5. Muzzle
The head is proportionate, with the muzzle being threefourths the length of the head. The outline from the outer corner of the eye to the tip of the nose forms a right triangle. The contour under the eyes is slightly clear but not overly pronounced to avoid creating a thin or pointed snout. The jaw is strong.
6. Nose
Convex, black. Lips: Black, tight, and not droopy.
7. Bite
Scissor bite or a level bite is preferred. Overbite or underbite are serious defects. Wry bite is allowed, but missing teeth are considered a serious defect.
Body:
1. Neck
Long and proudly carried behind the head, blending smoothly with the shoulders. The neck is long, with a distance from the occiput to the withers about onethird the distance from the chest to the rump.
2. Backline
Upright across the loins, muscular, and arched. The chest is welldeveloped, allowing the forelimbs to move freely without restriction. The lowest point of the chest extends to the elbows. The forechest is prominent and slightly projects forward of the shoulders. The lower abdomen has a moderate curve and is slightly tucked up.
3. Tail
The tail is set level with the backline, gently curled over the back, with the fur on the tail lying against the body. When extended towards the head, the tail should reach at least the midpoint of the withers. A lowset tail, a tail that is perpendicular to the body, or a tail that hangs down are serious defects. A spiral tail is also considered a serious defect.
4. Shoulder blades
The shoulder blades and upper arms are approximately the same length. The scapula is oblique at about a 45degree angle. The upper arm extends backward, and when viewed from the side, the elbow is just below the withers.
5. Forelimbs
Medium bone structure; the forearm and wrist should not be arched. The bones are slightly oblique compared to vertical.
6. Paws
Compact and rounded, resembling a cat's paw, pointing straight forward, neither inward nor outward弯曲.
7. Paw pads
Black. Nails: Trimmed to a short length.
8. Thighs
With an appropriate angle, wellmuscled, and slightly wider apart. The length of one thigh is approximately equal to the combined length of two thighs, converging at a moderately bent knee. The hind legs are perpendicular to the ground from the hock to the paw. The wolf's paw can be removed. The footpads are tight and round, with black pads.
