After a round of speculation and experimentation by scientists, the following benefits have been identified:

① Relief from stress, ② Reduction in blood pressure, ③ Improvement in breathing, ④ Treatment of fractures, ⑤ Enhancement of heart health, ⑥ Relaxation of muscle soreness, and ⑦ Reduction of swelling and pain.

Cats themselves may be baffled by why they exhibit such behaviors. Naturally, cats that are prone to purring may inadvertently adopt this habit during their sleep. This leads us to another intriguing question: why do cats snore, much like humans?

Let's start with the common reasons:

Most often, snoring in cats is due to blockages in the nose, throat, soft palate, or tongue root, which restricts the free flow of air through the airways. This subsequently causes the soft tissues in the throat to vibrate, leading to snoring. Snoring typically occurs during nonrapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, when the cat's muscles are relaxed, making it easier for abnormal throat vibrations to produce the characteristic sound—snoring.

Then there are the medical reasons:

Nasal polyps or tumors may be to blame.

However, if the snoring is intermittent, with varying intensity and is a source of annoyance, it might be a sign of a healthy cat.
