Firstly, Homemade or StoreBought Raw Meat?

Many cat owners are eager to provide their feline friends with the best possible health, but often find themselves short on time. This is a common dilemma. When they hear about the benefits of raw meat for cats, they're quick to consider it as an option. With the internet at our fingertips, there's a plethora of information on homemade raw meat. However, I must caution against purchasing raw meat online. Can you really trust that the product you receive will be as described by the seller? Can you guarantee its quality and freshness? Unfortunately, this cannot be assured. For those who have no time at all, I would not recommend feeding raw meat. Highquality dry food, freezedried, and canned food can also be excellent choices for your cat. If you're interested in feeding raw but lack the time, consider supplementing with freezedried and canned food.

Secondly, What is Raw Meat?

Raw meat, as the name suggests, is meat with bones. In the wild, cats would consume whole prey such as mice and birds. The promotion of raw meat feeding is more about returning to the cats' natural eating habits and nutritional sources.

1. Why "Raw"?

Is cooked meat not an option? The answer is no. Any meat that has been heated to high temperatures undergoes changes in its protein, fat, amino acids, and minerals in the bones, which can reduce their bioactivity and make them harder to digest for cats. This is why additional nutrients are often added to canned food.

2. Why "With Bones"?

Bones are rich in calcium and trace elements. Cats cannot survive on meat alone; often, bones provide additional nutrients like copper, zinc, calcium, and collagen. You can offer your cat small pieces of bonein meat, such as quail, chicken wings, or small birds. Cats are capable of digesting these on their own. It's important not to overprocess the bones by cooking or cutting them, as this can make them brittle and sharp, posing a risk to your cat.

3. What Types of Meat Are Suitable for Cats?

Cats can eat chicken, rabbit, duck, and bird meat. Deer meat and ostrich meat, which are available on the market, also offer suitable nutritional content. Fish can be fed occasionally, but it's not recommended to do so frequently. Sea fish are highly susceptible to oceanic heavy metal contamination and often lack essential vitamins, making them less than ideal for a cat's nutritional needs.

Thirdly, Is Raw Meat Enough?

Raw meat alone cannot fulfill a cat's complete nutritional requirements. For example, additional organs can provide cats with vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids, taurine, and highquality vitamins A, taurine, and amino acids found in eggs. Supplements like taurine, vitamins B, E, and fatty acids can contribute to a healthier cat. By now, you might have a basic understanding of raw meat. For those interested in preparing it, I recommend consulting with experienced raw feeders or learning from videos and articles by experts in the field.
