Understanding why a dog might vomit greenish fluid can be attributed to three primary factors. By examining the color and consistency of the vomit, you can gain insights into the underlying cause of the dog's discomfort.

What to Do When Your Dog Vomits

1. Gastroenteritis

If your dog has been experiencing diarrhea and a lack of appetite prior to vomiting green fluid, and the vomit contains froth and gastric juices, it's a strong indication of gastroenteritis. In such cases, you can administer overthecounter canine gastrointestinal medications. Consider giving your pet antidiarrheal drugs or probiotics like Lactobacillus supplements to soothe their stomach. These can help alleviate the symptoms and reduce the frequency of greenish vomiting.

2. Parasitic Infection

A severe parasitic infestation can also lead to greenish vomiting in dogs. The vomit may appear grainy and thicker, often containing worm eggs and mucus. At this stage, the dog's infection is quite advanced, and it's best to consult a veterinarian for both internal and external deworming. At home, you can use deworming medications like Fenbendazole tablets. These can effectively eliminate internal parasites, but it's crucial to follow the dosage instructions carefully, as an overdose can cause diarrhea.

3. Cholecystitis

If the dog's greenish vomiting isn't due to the above reasons, it might be a sign of cholecystitis. Unfortunately, there's no specific medication for this condition, and it's advisable to seek veterinary care for specialized treatment. Dogs with cholecystitis are not as fortunate, and immediate medical attention is crucial.
