Dog Testicular Inflammation Symptoms:

The symptoms of testicular inflammation in dogs include varying degrees of swelling and pain in both testicles. The dog may exhibit an outward spread of its hind legs when standing, a stiff gait when walking, and a wide stance of the hind legs as it moves. It may arch its back, refuse to mate, and show increased sensitivity to the testicles upon palpation. There may be a fever, marked pain, and a serousfibrinous exudate in the tunica vaginalis. The spermatic cord may become thickened and tender. Additionally, the affected dog may present with systemic symptoms such as a rise in body temperature (up to 39.5°C), depression, decreased appetite, and an increased heart rate.

Treatment for Dog Testicular Inflammation:

The primary treatment approach is to control infection and prevent complications, thereby avoiding the progression to chronic inflammation which can lead to testicular atrophy or epididymal obstruction. It is crucial to ensure the dog maintains a quiet and restful environment.

Within the first 24 hours, apply a cold compress using a compound lead acetate solution to alleviate pain and suppress inflammatory exudation. Once the inflammation subsides, switch to a warm compress. Apply Ichthammol ointment locally and elevate the scrotum with a bandage to provide comfort and improve circulation, thereby reducing pain.

Administer systemic antibiotic therapy by injecting penicillin sodium intramuscularly twice daily, with each dose containing 1.6 million units, for a duration of three days.
