Reasons Why Cat Poop Smells So Bad: Unveiling the Stink
When humans consume an excessive amount of animal protein, the odor of their excrement can be quite astonishing. Dogs, being omnivores, consume both vegetables and meats, which means they ingest about twice the amount of animal protein as humans. Cats, on the other hand, primarily dine on meat, leading to their intake of animal proteins being roughly four to five times that of humans. Plantbased proteins generally consist of elements like carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, whereas animal proteins contain nitrogen and sulfur. When these proteins undergo decomposition in the gut, they produce compounds like indole and hydrogen sulfide, resulting in particularly臭 (smelly) feces.
Additionally, those of us who have had the pleasure of owning a dog are well aware that many dogs have a rather strong odor. Cats, however, do not share this characteristic.
This is due to the fact that cats frequently groom themselves by licking their fur. During this process, they inadvertently ingest any unpleasant odors, which then get mixed into their feces, enhancing the intensity of their smell.
Beyond feces, the smell of a cat's farts can also be quite pungent. While a cat's fart is typically silent and barely noticeable, a soft "puff" that can be endearing, it's the subsequent, rather potent, sour smell that stands out. If you're alone with your cat and you're certain you haven't released any gas but still detect an overwhelming odor, it's a safe bet that it's your feline companion's "magic" at work.
