Rabbitry Disinfection Methods

1. Pen Disinfection Techniques: Maintaining cleanliness around the rabbitry and pathways is crucial. The keeper should perform a thorough cleaning of the pen twice a week and a disinfection once a week. Suitable disinfectants for the pen include caustic soda, formaldehyde solution, peracetic acid, and complex phenols.

2. Rabbit Equipment Disinfection: It's essential to keep the rabbitry and cages clean. The farmer should use a flame gun to burn and disinfect pens, feed boxes, and other equipment weekly. Regular sweeping and disinfection should be maintained. Each pen should have dedicated feeding equipment and tools, which must not be shared. Utensils used for cleaning rabbit excrement should be sundried during intense sunlight. For instruments used in treating rabbits, such as syringes and forceps, they should be boiled in boiling water for 30 minutes or disinfected with new洁尔灭 after each use.

3. Disinfection Before Entering the Rabbitry: Staff must wear disinfected work clothes, shoes, and hats before entering the rabbitry. When selling breeding rabbits, transactions should be conducted in an area outside the farm, and it's forbidden to return any rabbits to the farm. After each work session, the used attire, shoes, and hats should be washed and disinfected for reuse.

4. Disinfecting Rabbits: Before disinfecting rabbits, the keeper should first clean the feces and hair, dust, and other debris from the rabbit pens. Then, use polyvinylpyrrolidoneiodine or Baytril diluted in water to disinfect the rabbits. When spraying medication, avoid aiming at the rabbit's head and maintain a distance of over 50 cm from the rabbit's body to prevent panic. The temperature of the disinfectant spray should not be too low. It's best to disinfect rabbits during a sunny, mildmoderate noon.

5. Disinfection After Emptying the Rabbitry: After clearing out the rabbitry and removing all debris, first spray the pen with water or disinfectant to thoroughly clean the ground, walls, and equipment inside. Then, use a highpressure water jet to rinse the roof, walls, doors, windows, floors, and corridors. Remove and clean any removable equipment and devices, then leave them in the sun to dry and disinfect. Finally, return the disinfected equipment and utensils to the rabbitry, seal the doors and windows, and use potassium permanganate fumigation to ensure complete disinfection of the pen.

These are the rabbitry disinfection methods shared by Oxygen Pet Doctor. Regular disinfection is key to preventing rabbit diseases, especially in largescale rabbit farming. It's crucial to prioritize the disinfection task in rabbitry management.
