Promise me, if your dog gets a fungal skin disease, don't rush to the vet clinic and waste money unnecessarily. I know many dog owners, and every time they find their furry friend losing fur or bald spots, they get incredibly anxious. A single visit to the vet can cost hundreds, sometimes even close to a thousand yuan.

But really, treating ringworm in dogs isn't that difficult. You can easily manage it at home with the right medication, and the drugs are pretty much the same ones over and over again, so there's no need to worry about choosing the right one.

My dog has had ringworm twice before, and both times, I treated it successfully at home. The treatment took no more than two weeks, usually just a week with timely medication, and the total cost was only a bit over 100 yuan. Plus, the medication wasn't even fully used up!

Firstly, if the ringworm is small and localized, you can rely on Pipute (Tebuconazole Hydrochloride Spray), which is the goto treatment for fungal skin diseases in pets. You can find this at many vet clinics, pet stores, and even online pet pharmacies, often at a lower price.

• Before treatment, trim some of the fur around the affected area to expose the skin, making it easier to apply the medication;

• If there are dandruff or scabs on the skin, use saline solution to wash them off. If there are scabs, apply saline solution to soften them and gently remove them. It's important to clean them thoroughly to allow the medication to penetrate the skin more effectively and improve the treatment outcome!

This is the treatment result for my dog's first ringworm infection. We only used Iodophor disinfection and Tebuconazole Hydrochloride Spray, applying it twice a day. It was completely healed in about a week.

For larger areas of ringworm, you can combine medication with a bath and oral medication. Oral medications include Tebuconazole tablets or Itraconazole, taken once a day, onethird of a tablet. For the bath, I bought it from a pet store, and the effect was just average, so I won't recommend it.

To enhance the effectiveness and speed of recovery, you can also use Dasunin (Ketoconazole Complex Ointment). Apply the spray first, followed by the ointment, twice to three times a day. Continue the treatment for an additional 4 to 7 days after the symptoms disappear.

To prevent ringworm from recurring, pay attention to environmental disinfection during treatment and supplement your dog with an appropriate amount of Shiwibi (Vitamin B Complex Solution) and lecithin. These can boost the skin's immunity and improve the skin quality.

Additionally, make sure to put an Elizabethan collar on your dog during treatment. While it might be uncomfortable for them and look distressing, don't give in to your softheartedness. Repeated licking and biting of the skin can worsen the injury and infection, affecting the healing process. If your dog licks the topical antifungal medication, it could even lead to poisoning!
