Actually, after hearing many pet owners' experiences, it's common for them to judge which cat is bullying the other solely based on what they see at the moment. However, you should believe that many situations are just misunderstandings. The cats might just be playing around or showing off their tough side.

1. So, how can we tell the difference between a real fight and just play? How can we determine which kitten started the trouble?

A real fight is intense, with fur flying, loud hisses, and even injuries. To identify which kitten is being bullied, you can look at their ears. When a cat's ears are pulled back close to its head, crouching down, and assuming a crawling position, it indicates that the cat is in a state of potential attack. The reason for the ears being pulled back is that cats have biting and scratching actions during fights, and pulling the ears back helps prevent them from being pulled off, which is a natural instinctual selfprotection mechanism. Pet owners can carefully observe their cats for such behavior or watch videos, as cats that are being attacked will definitely exhibit this earback behavior. However, the cat being bullied is often mistakenly thought to be the instigator, but this is actually just a feardriven instinct to avoid more aggressive actions. Therefore, to determine which kitten is being attacked more severely during a fight, observe the ears. Of course, the kitten preparing to attack will show a vigilant behavior and posture, watching the other's every move.

Additionally, if the cats stop fighting when the pet owner intervenes, it doesn't necessarily mean the situation is severe. But, if you pay close attention, if one cat is still不服气 and hasn't claimed its territory, it will look for an opportunity to fight again.

2. How to resolve cat fights

Pay attention to the places where the cats have conflicts and make a note of them. Just leave a trace, and you can follow the clues to find the root cause of the fights. Often, there's just one toy, a scratching post, or a single box, or even a bag, which can trigger a conflict over resources. After all, cats are creatures that love to hide in boxes, bags, and mark their territory with their scent, which can indeed lead to fighting.

One of the main ways to resolve fighting issues is to enrich the cats' environment. This can be done by adding more toys, boxes, and overall space. Of course, there's also a method to the madness when it comes to arranging the cats' belongings. It's not just about piling all the cat stuff in one corner; it should be layered and organized. The goal is to reduce conflicts arising from resource competition. When each cat has its own favorite spot, toy, and box, there's less chance of conflict. Of course, for cats that are prone to jealousy, pet owners need to show equal love. If you're scratching and grooming one cat, do the same for the other, as favoritism can also lead to fights.

At times, finding the root of the problem is the only way to solve it. Cat fights aren't可怕 (scary), but it's the fear of not finding the root and resolving the cats' conflicts that's truly可怕 (scary).
