Common gastrointestinal disorders encompass a variety of conditions that can affect both humans and our furry companions. Here are some of the most prevalent issues:

1. Congenital Defects in the Gastrointestinal Tract: These defects can manifest as swallowing or esophageal motility issues, leading to difficulties in digesting food or excreting waste normally.

2. Infectious Diseases Caused by Pathogens: These include bacterial, viral, fungal, protozoan infections, and parasitic infestations, which are quite common in pets like cats and dogs. Different infections can affect various parts of the gastrointestinal system.

3. Inflammation: Virtually any area of the gastrointestinal tract can be affected by inflammation, such as gingivitis, esophagitis, gastritis, enteritis, colitis, and proctitis. These inflammatory conditions can be either acute or chronic.
