Earwax Removal Method

First, gently pull back the fur around your pet's ears. Then, introduce a few drops of ear cleaning solution into their ears until you can see the liquid in the ear canal.

Next, cover their ears and gently massage them to help dislodge any dirt trapped within.

Thoroughly massaging your pet's ear canal can aid in removing any debris. Sometimes, pets will shake out the dirt themselves. If there's a significant amount of earwax, you may need to massage their ears more vigorously, wait for the wax to soften, and then carefully remove it with a small pair of tweezers. Always be cautious not to pierce the eardrum or damage the ear canal lining.

Ear Hair Removal

Before cleaning your pet's ears, it's essential to trim any long hair that's pointing into the ear canal. Neglecting this can lead to earwax buildup, obstructed airflow, and eventually, infections. Cleaning ear hair involves plucking it out, not just trimming.

Since the ear canals are deep and Lshaped, it's best to pull the ear back or place it flat on the head while trimming. Use a pointed tweezer to carefully pull out any excess hair from the ear canal.

Once the hair is cleared, use a cotton ball or gauze dipped in your pet's ear care solution to wipe the earlobes and the opening of the ear canal. Be sure not to go too deep.

Ear Cleaning Precautions

Cleaning your pet's ears is actually a straightforward process, but it requires gentle and slow movements. Rough handling can cause ear canal damage or push earwax deeper into the ear.

Always use a petspecific ear cleaning solution. Cats, in particular, may struggle during the cleaning process. To prevent this, you can wrap your cat in a towel before starting the cleaning to keep them calm.
