Section 1: Raising Puppies

1. Feeding Methods

Young dogs grow at an astonishing pace, necessitating a wellbalanced diet to support their rapid development. After weaning, the change in environment can lead to unease, making them more susceptible to illness. Therefore, it's crucial to select food that is easy to digest, delicious, and rich in nutrients. Puppies around three months old should be fed three to four times a day, with smaller, more frequent meals. This approach helps to stimulate their appetite, preventing bad habits such as anorexia and pickiness. As puppies grow from four to six months, their weight increases rapidly, so their food intake should be adjusted accordingly, with three meals a day. It's not until they reach six months of age that you can reduce their feeding to twice a day.

2. Sample Feeding Schedule

For puppies younger than two months, it's best to follow the previous owner's feeding routine and gradually transition. A porridge made with soy milk, mixed with fish, minced meat, and finely chopped cooked vegetables, is a suitable option. For harder foods, they should be soaked in water to soften before feeding, as their digestive systems are still developing. After two months, you can introduce puppy kibble or cooked and minced meat and liver mixed with vegetables.

3. Important Considerations

Bichon Frises cannot be breastfed; if they need milk after two months, use specialized puppy milk powder or highcalcium, lowfat milk powder. As they mature, ensure all meat is wellcooked and portions are controlled, as excessive meat consumption can lead to indigestion and, in severe cases, diarrhea.

Section 2: Grooming

Grooming Bichon Frises is relatively straightforward. Trim the hair between the pads of their feet, but avoid cutting off the tuft of hair in the center of the foot. The long hair on the butterfly ears is easy to clean, as it doesn't tend to collect dust. A few minutes of daily grooming should suffice. When bathing, be careful not to let water enter the ears, and dry them thoroughly with a hairdryer to prevent skin issues.
